UNDP Communications
AI Resources
This page provides resources as a follow-up to the AI Session for the UNDP's RBAP Workshop in late October 2024.

I enjoyed our session togther. I greatly respect what each of you is doing to improve the world. I'm excited to share a few ideas for how AI might be able to accelerate the impact you're having.

We covered many topics, and I want to ensure you have the names and links to the tools we discussed. If you and your teams are interested in going deeper into any of the areas, please email me.

We started with a fun video of me speaking seven languages. (The details are in the YouTube description if you're interested in how I created it with HeyGen, ChatGPT, and iMovie).

We took a quick poll that revealed the group had a relatively high level of AI usage. A few of the words that you shared describe your generally optimistic view of AI.

Q: What words come to mind when you describe your relationship with AI?

Here are the LLMs and ChatBots we discussed

-
ChatGPT4 (OpenAI) -- This is my main LLM / Foundation model.
-
Perplexity -- this is the leading AI site for research. It's very worth checking out when you want to cite research.
-
NotebookLM (Google) -- the automatic podcast generation with two speakers is drawing a lot of attention. This, and similar technologies, has the potential to make it much easier for non-technical audiences to access large amounts of information.
-
Claude (Anthropic)
-
Copilot (Microsoft)
-
Gemini (Google)

Companies We Discussed
Companies we discussed in the presentation:
-
HeyGen - HeyGen is an online video tool with built-in talking AI-avatars that unleash people's creativity by removing the costly barriers of traditional video filming and editing.
-
Yoodli- Improve your communication skills with private, real-time, and judgment-free coaching — powered by AI. Like Grammarly, but for speech!
-
Fathom - an AI-powered tool that automatically summarizes and highlights key moments from video meetings, making it easier to review, share, and act on important information.
-
SORA - Announced by OpenAI about a year ago. It's still not in general release but is expected to be a breakthrough GenAI text-to-video model

** Journalist Role Play. This is the link to using YOODLI to create a very tough interview in the style of Indian journalist Karan Thapar. LINK. As background, I had ChatGPT identity as a hard-hitting Indian journalist and then to describe the traits of his style and the style of other tough journalists. I then fed these descriptions to Yoodli and created a scenario for the discussion. I have no doubt that any of you would have fared better than I did. What's fascinating is that even though I knew it was a simulation, I could feel myself getting frustrated at his questions. LINK

Companies we didn't mention but are worth checking out.

-
Napkin.ai -- I just came across this company this week. They do a fantastic job of creating engaging business graphics from your text.
-
Beautiful.ai - an AI-powered presentation tool that automates design, allowing users to quickly create professional, visually appealing slides with minimal effort.

Prompting
In the presentation, we jumped into a number of prompts. I'll include many of them here. Please check out the section of PROMPTING 101 as a primer on how to improve your prompts.

HBR & BCG. The first study I highlighted was the one conducted by Harvard Business School and Boston Consulting Group.

The full study, "Navigating the Jagged Technological Frontier: Field Experimental Evidence of the Effects of AI on Knowledge Worker Productivity and Quality" is HERE
-
For most people, I suggest reading the analysis of the study. Wharton's Ethan Mollick did a robust analysis of the work and a summarizes it HERE

McKinsey. The second report showed where AI was being adopted across different functional areas. I'm very impressed with the work that McKinsey's Quantum Black group is conducting. Their high-level research is HERE
